Dr. Robert Bryce is the president and owner of Heartland Software Solutions. He is the key systems analyst and oversees all projects performed by the company. His technical skills include all aspects of object-oriented design and implementation, scientific and simulation software development, including those using PDE’s (partial-differential equations). Experience covers a wide range of operating systems, applications, and programming languages. His roles in the project will be resource management, interaction with the client, design analyst, and senior programmer. He has experience from dozens of projects to translate requirements from conceptual design to detailed specifications and software implementation through to release.

Travis Redpath is an extremely talented, efficient programmer and has a Masters degree in Physics, B.Sc. in Physics and Computer Science. His experience covers a vast array of programming languages ranging traditional languages such as C++, C#, Python, Java, to WebUI languages such as JS, to mathematical languages such as R. His skill set includes graduate-level mathematics and physics skills, and experience developing for mobile platforms. His roles in the project will include design and implementation.

Andrew enrolled at Brandon University in 2014 as a dual-credit student to pursue a BSc with a major in computer science and a minor in mathematics and physics. As a part of his honors degree, he published two peer-reviewed articles on modifying the MQTT protocol's standard to include geolocation data. Immediately following in 2019, Andrew enrolled at Lakehead University to pursue a MSc in computer science with a specialization in artificial intelligence. He worked on a variety of projects involving computer vision, simulation, and deep learning, as well as obtained funding through the Mitacs Globalink Research Award to work at Miami University for a semester. After graduating at the end of 2020, Andrew enrolled at Saint Mary's University to pursue a PhD in Applied Science which he is currently working on to this day with funding from Mitacs Accelerate. His projects involve the collaboration between civil engineering and computer science as he is working with an industry partner in the construction field to develop deep learning algorithms for computer vision and optimization throughout their workflow.

Through this firm, Dr. Cordy Tymstra provides specialized consulting services covering topics such as wildfire management planning, fire weather and behaviour, wildfire modelling, and wildfire risk applications. Dr. Tymstra’s work in wildfire dates to the late 1970’s, and completed his Ph.D. in Forest Ecology and Management (fire) in 2021. Through the 1990’s, Dr. Tymstra performed work as a fire ecologist, implemented a new Fire Management Information System (IFMIS), and focused on developing and implementing innovative fire science and technology initiatives to advance to advance Alberta’s wildfire program.

Tymstra was a project lead for the development of the “Prometheus” wildland fire growth simulation model, first used on the 2002 House River Wildfire, and was an expert witness supporting the application of wildfire modelling and the reverse modelling approach to estimate fire origin location and start time. Dr. Tymstra contributed to launching Canada Wildfire in 2009, and co-write its first strategic plan. Tymstra was the lead author of a 2010 technical report entitled “Development and structure of Prometheus: the Canadian Wildland Fire Growth Simulation Model”, which has been cited over 233 times. Dr. Bryce is a contributing author to this publication. Tymstra has taught, or influenced an entire generation of wildfire researchers, analysts, and FBAN’s.
